Fall, 2012: Suffering through a series of negative scenarios, I was asked to do one thing: write about how I feel in the first person. Not as fiction, not hidden where I could brush it off. An online journal, writing my feelings down about the period I am in right now: grief over the loss of my mother, looking for work, finding myself without any firm footing, and feeling lost and terrified about the future. Do others have it worse than I do? Yes, of course, but what I can work on right now is me. I want to get better, feel better, be stronger to face the challenges for myself and those who love and support me.

Thank you, Rabbi Wax, for starting me on this path.

  1. You’re brave to do this–going public–which in itself is the first step to a renewed vigor for life.
