Persistence

In going on when you don’t feel it
When you’re despairing
When you hope, but have no surety
Persistence
In the face of being overwhelmed
Trying to leave that behind you
Not letting the darkness drag you down
Persistence
For yourself, to break through the bonds
You tend to regurgitate around you
Trying anything to dispel them
Persistence
In reaching out
In trying something new
In searching for any answers
Persistence
Reminding yourself you are worth being cared about
Worth being loved
Worth being heard
Persistence
In not seeing all is bleak
In opening yourself up to self worth
In going on…
Persistence
When your chest is tight with anxiety
When you want to just crawl under the covers
When you know this is now, not always
Persistence
In going on
In achieving something positive
Which won’t happen if you’re not
Persistent

“Perseverance is a great element of success. If you only knock long enough and loud enough at the gate, you are sure to wake up somebody.” ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

“Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something and that this thing must be attained. ” ~Marie Curie

  1. Just what I needed to read this morning…Thanks for sharing =)

  2. Great poetry comes from great pain… not certain why that has to be, yet it’s how the great works were born. hmmm…not unlike childbirth, perhaps??

  3. Thank you for sharing! I needed this today.

  4. This is exactly what I needed and just the precise moment I needed it. I’m overjoyed to to have read your blog first from the U. B.C.

  5. Lovely lines! And I remember that picture 🙂

  6. Love the quote from Marie Curie, who persevered and suffered in so many ways – and left her mark on the world. Persistence is going on when everyone and everything seem to be shouting “Give up”.

  7. Your words really helped me a lot in my present situation.
